Awaken Your Wild Softness
I am calling out to that animal inside you, half-awake and half-asleep. That wild softness, so often contained with hard words and hard thoughts.
That wild softness, too dangerous, too honest to freely roam the streets and fields of You.
Too raw, too vulnerable, too close.
Too sensitive to that bright, penetrating light of connection. To other people. To yourself.
You’ve seen that light before, and you know what comes next. So, you close the blinds. You stay inside. You keep that tender creature, that terrible softness, so quiet and still. So that it cannot harm you by throwing open the doors that you’ve spent so much time and effort keeping closed.
But this isn’t really how you want to live... is it?
I am calling out to that animal inside you. That wild softness, so wanting to reach out. So ready to smile and laugh in the light of something beautiful, something dangerous, something close.
That wild softness, so raw and unpolished, so authentic, so magnificent. So wanting to be free. Free to run through the open fields of You, head back, arms open, skies full.
Free to love for the sake of loving. Free to touch. Free to feel. Free to open. Free to open. Free to open.
Free to just be, wildly and essentially. Letting go of the burden of that armor you carry.
See, they were wrong about you.
Those unkind things they said and did. Those hurtful things. They were lost in jungles of their own. Their softness was a monster to them. And I know you carry those burdens still.
Today, you are encouraged to slowly let go. This is your journey. Slowly let go.
May you let that tender animal, that wild softness, out into the light once again. May you see the world with wise, new eyes.
And when those magnificent fields open up before you, may you run — head back, arms open, skies full.

ah, yes. Thank YOU.
Thanks Jenysha :)
Gorgeous! My word for this year is Soften. This is going in my file to be returned to often -- thank you!
That's awesome, Anna!
This is a wonderful and frightening blog to read. I am not sure I have the strength to let go and be free. Thank you!
It is a journey, no need to make one giant leap! That is perhaps the most freeing, encouraging thing about all of this.
Stunningly amazingly beautiful. Wow. I'm rather at a loss for any other words
I actually have tears from this and sent it to my friend that inspired me a number of years ago to let my own wild softness shine through and reading this today...I realize I've done it! This is who I am now and people are drawn to my authentic, vulnerable self. Thank you for putting it into such beautiful words...I'll refer to this often to remind myself just how far I've come and how much more fulfilling my life is because of it.
I type this response through tears of my own. Thank you, Jen. This is beautiful.
Thank You.
It's my pleasure :)
