Underneath it all

The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.

Burton Hillis

Hi Beautiful Yous, I want to extend my deep love for you as the last days of this year fall off the calendar. Looking back over the last twelve months, if the days were piled up in a room, one thing is for certain, they would be radiating some intoxicating love, beating with it - a sure & steady but gentle beat. You feel it?

Underneath it all, all the layers that we shroud ourselves with, no matter what flavor those layers are, no matter our opinions, our experiences, how we've been judged - no matter who we are - at our core, we are love & we crave love.

Every. Single. One of us.

I know that some people's shells are harder to break into sometimes but that has nothing to do with you. That's their work, whether they choose to take on the venture or not, whether they choose to grow, has little to do with you.

This kind of stuff always seems to come up around the holidays.

What I want to leave you with is this:

Be an example.

All this goodness that we strive for everyday starts with one love.

When we let our feet kiss the ground with love, with every step & we tenderly hold on to the pure & simple fact that we are all raw & wild love underneath, that's where growth starts.

When your eyes look out at every person you come into contact with - keep this simple image in mind:

Their heart, underneath their skin, is just like yours. It is on fire with love. They are either projecting it or they are pining for it or they are somewhere in the in-between.

Just love them, unconditionally.

Be an example
of love.

——

I'm taking a little break from now until January 2nd. I will mostly be spending this time with my loved ones & restoring my energy. I also will be working on tidying up this space a little & I have a few ideas swirling around in my head for new projects - over all, just preparing for another year of fantastical amazingness.

2012 is gonna rock socks. That's a fact jack.

Thank you for being you & being here.

One love,

Have a beautiful holiday with your family and friends!! You deserve all the love and happiness you've spread around the world returned to you tenfold. We'll miss your daily message but can't wait for your New Year energy! Rest, restore, eat, and laugh (a lot) and we'll see you here in 2012!

this is such a wonderful post.... unconditional love.. I didn't grow up with much of this at all... so for me, when I am surrounded by ppl that love me unconditionally, I get very emotional.. I feel unworthy. Thanks for sharing this.. it means the world to me. xo

What an awesome year 2011 has been.

I still remember your post at the beginning of the year, about Rocking This Trip Around the Sun, and how inspired I felt reading it.  I remember being so completely unsure of myself and what I was doing with Metta Drum, but you believed in me and supported me so much that it almost felt overwhelming, sometimes.  Overwhelming and beautiful.

I started and stopped, started and stopped, but your love and support -- all your encouraging words and acts -- it all impacted me so deeply, and it was the primary reason I decided to keep going with Metta Drum.

Now, here we are, at the end of the year, and my belief in myself and what I'm doing is strong.  Thank you, so much, for your love.

I can only imagine what 2012 has in store.  I know it's gonna be awesome.

Thank you for being You, Amanda. Beautiful soul sister.  I love you!

This is so, so true. I woke with my heart feeling a little tender today and not sure why--I think it's this. Walking in love--as love--can be heart-breaking, heart-opening, heart-expanding.

We are beautiful, complicated creatures, aren't we? So often we don't know WHAT it is we ache for--but, oh, we ache, especially this time of year. The answer, just as you said: be love. Walk in love.

Thank YOU, beautiful you, for being an example for me. Here's to 2012, finding our way ever closer to the heart of life.

I am smiling through tears.  Hehe, I get so excited when I connect with something or someone that moves me. You are a gift to this world - we're lucky for you & your message, your lessons.  I'm beaming that I/KOM helped that along a little - you hold on to that strong belief in yourself - the world needs your teaching.

Thank you brother, I love you so, so much.

OMG DANIMAL!  Ha! LOVE!

Oh yes, I'm gettin' that bearhug in 2012! Woooot! <3!

Thank you so much for all your inspiration. Your blog is such a beautiful work of art and I am grateful every time I make the time to absorb your words.

I have a question. I am sorry if this is not the correct place to ask it, but I have not found another page where I can send you a question. I am so excited by the possibility to buy your e-books at a price I can afford, but I've noticed that the purchasing site does not make it possible to buy the books at less than half their original price. If that is intentional on your part, then that is, of course, fine - 50% off is a very generous gift! However, based on your newsletter, which said to "pay what you can" and that 50% is the "suggested minimum," I believed that there would be no enforced minimum price. Please let me know if I am being rude, but I want to clear up any misinterpretation I have done and any similar confusion anyone else might be having.

Hi Laura, thank you so much for your kind words :)

I can see how you got tripped up on my choice of wording, after I've just read back over it, it is indeed a minimum price of 50% off - you can pay that minimum or choose to pay higher.  Apologies for that misunderstanding!

Sending love!

Amanda, I so agree with you.  Sometimes I feel like I am walking around with my heart exposed.  Sometimes that is exhausting but it's the only way I know now, it's the only way I want to live, it feels good but tender, like you said.

Thank you for all you do & our connection this year has been such a huge highlight in my life.

Being examples together = why I do what I do.

The heart of life. Mmmm, love that.

Love you BIG,
A
